Video killed the Radio Star

I rushed back home. Eager to enjoy the empty house to myself, I imagine the many things I get to do later. Like hog the TV, prance around my self silly and cook up whatever rubbish in the kitchen without worrying about cleaning up every 5 minutes. Mom is Inspector Clean.

So I drove home like a speed-demon and my tummy was growling. Perfect, I said to myself. I knew exactly what I am going to do when I get home.

I threw all my work clothes and jumped into my very comfortable boxers and top and whipped a Maggie mee – Cepat di masak, sedap di makan, Asam Laksa flavor plus telur with its yolk still runny. Next, I am about to place the hot bowl on this Pink Ikea kiddie stool that my mom uses to rest her legs on when she watches tv or for my nephew to sit. Sitting crossed leg on the floor in front of the idiot box and putting my plate/bowl on this stool is like my favorite position for soul-dining.

But I could not find the stool. I searched behind every door, under every bed, every crack of the house and it is not there. Bummer. I told myself it’s ok and make do with holding the bowl. Tak syiok this position because my hands get tired of holding the bowl while concentrating on the tv.

Getting myself ready for the ultimate relaxation of surfing the channels and deciding what I want to watch without a debate with anyone, I switched on the TV and……all I see is gray. Tiny dots of gray sprayed on every channel I changed. Now tell me,
What is going on here people???

My Maggie mee was starting to get cold by now, but I must check what is wrong with the tv. I found myself entangled in cables, switching everything on and off and on and off, still the tv is dead. Then I saw the cause of it, the Astro card is gone!!!!

My mom brought the card back with her to Kuching. OH MAN! This got to be a joke. I have the whole house to myself for a few weeks but there ain’t no Cable or for that matter not even the free channels.

Damn sad. My revolution of lifestyle to staying at home and watching TV is under siege.
